Check out my new blog, Daft Justice.

I’ve been running Daft Justice for over a month now, but figured I ought to share it with my personal blog readers here at ChrisBrandrick.com. DaftJustice is a music blog which covers news, remixes and more from Daft Punk, Justice and other similar artists. The reason I choose to start this blog (running on wordpress), as opposed to putting the content on my own blog here, is that with it being a standalone blog it can generate much more targeted visitors to what this blog, which mainly covers web topics ever could. I try to update the site a few times a week, and I am doing it as more of a hobby than anything else, although if you are a fan of similar music, then be sure to get in touch with me as some extra help would be swell!

The blog can be found at www.daftjustice.com, and if you are a fan of either band, or just have a love for electro music like myself then be sure to subscribe via RSS and of course follow the blog on twitter. Be sure to leave your comments on the site here. Oh and yes for those eagle eyed readers, the blog is running on a WooThemes theme.

WooThemes offer – 4 for the price of 1

This ain’t no April Fools. WooThemes, the creator’s of fine premium wordpress themes are for one day only offering an additional three free themes when you buy one. So you get four great WordPress themes for the price of one, and amazing offer, but for only one day!

WooThemes have added a lot of great new themes to their portfolio recently so be sure to check it out when making your choices.

Finally running WordPress 2.7

I seem to have a really bad habit of keeping my WordPress installation up to date, but I have finally updated my blog to the very latest version of the WordPress blogging platform. I have installed 2.7 on a number of other blogs I operate but for some reason or another never got round to updating my personal blog here at ChrisBrandrick.com.

I now have, and I am glad I did, as 2.7 is such a joy to use in comparison to previous versions, it has so many little details which really do contribute to the overall user experience. So take note from my tardiness and be sure to upgrade your installation today, you won’t regret it!

Update: I did of course mean to say 2.7.1. I am running the latest version, which is 2.7.1! Thanks to Darren Singleton (via email) and Zander Chance for pointing this post error out to me!

Year In Review – 2008

2008 was an interesting year. ChrisBrandrick.com had somewhat of a rollercoaster year, some months having more posts than others and at times my blog experience lots of traffic to nearly none. This is my ‘Year In Review – 2008’.

January

In January of 2008 I made a total of 18 blog posts, covering such topics as promoting your RSS feed for free, adding a favicon to your site, and of course my goals for the year (which I will review in an upcoming post). The site received over 1,300 unique visitors from a ;

WooThemes Update – Permanent 2 for 1!

I haven’t blogged about WooThemes in a while, but the wordpress theme club has gone from stength to strength offering free themes, having superb promotions and even giving away premium themes in a magazine here in the UK.

WooThemes - Premium WordPress Themes Club

Over Christmas they offered 4 themes for the price of one, and due to it’s deserved success, and to celebrate the new year, they have now recently announced that all future purchases at WooThemes come with a ‘2 for 1’ deal included. Buy any theme, get any them free. This new deal is permanent, and is no doubt a sure fire way to encourage more people to snap up some of their superb premium wordpress themes. Give them a visit today!

Another New WooThemes Theme

The guys over at WooThemes are bringing them thick and fast as yet another quality premium wordpress theme has been released. WooThemes club members must be pleased!

The new theme is called ‘Fresh Folio’ and is a mix between two older themes bringing together both a portfolio style theme and a blog theme. Together this new theme offers a nice balance for the professional wanting to show off their work yet still have a blog on the homepage. Check it out now!

WooThemes and the papercut…

As some of you may have noticed I have started advertising WooThemes in my sidebar. WooThemes is a relatively new wordpress themes site which has really nice customized designs for you to use for your blog. These range from portfolio style themes to those suitable for a more magazine based blog. Be sure to check them out if your looking for something a bit special (oh and they all work in 2.6).

WooThemes - Join today and get all our WordPress themes

Yesterday saw the release of their newest theme, Papercut. The theme has a grunge style mixed with natural colours which although may sound a little different, really works. Liam McKay designed the theme on behalf of WooThemes, and his site can found here. The theme is available to WooTheme club members and via license purchases. Be sure to take a look.

WordPress 2.6 is here, oh and a quick holiday update!

WordPress today announced that version 2.6 of the popular blogging platform is now available to download, for free of course. This version comes more than a month earlier than expected and is packed with a fair few new features, including a post word count, new media functions, and the ability to view your blog with a different theme before making it live. Check out the below video for the full details:

Running on WordPress 2.5

It may have taken longer than it should, but ChrisBrandrick.com is finally running on the stable release of WordPress 2.5. I mentioned in a previous post that the latest version of the popular blogging platform was on the way, and now, as you may have read on other blogs, it finally has arrived.

After having the new version installed for over a day now, I have familiarised myself with the new layout and although it is a very different it has several neat new features which overall make the back end experience all the more a pleasure to use. If you haven’t upgraded, be sure to do so now.

WordPress 2.5 is coming

Version 2.5 of WordPress has been anticipated for some time now, and the new version will bring with it several impressive changes, such as Gravatar support as standard, multiple uploads, and tagging management. All this in a fresh new interface.

Recently the guys over at WordPress put up this article which gives a sneak peek at the final 2.5 interface and a general idea as to what you can expect. It has to be said at first I was weary of any changes being made to the WordPress backend, but the latest interface has an overall impressive style and seems to flow very well, and if you prefer the classic blue colours, you can even switch back to them.

WordPress 2.5 should be hitting very soon, so be on your toes and ready to update.
